Updated : Jul 22, 2025

Ajay Devgn has been sticking to his formula of mixing comedy, romance, action, character-oriented powerful dramas and continuously making more number of films. After serious dramas and action films like Shaitaan, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, Singham Again, Raid 2, he is back with a comedy, Son of Sardaar 2.

The movie attracted heavy trolls with Ajay's reluctance to dance on big screen. While the trolls have been prominent, the movie has been postponed to 1st August release date from 18th July. To increase the buzz for the film, the makers have released second trailer for Son of Sardaar 2.

But social media has been trolling or trashing the comedy. Some are funnily posting memes about the lack of rib-tickling comedy. Also, the portrayal of Sardaar by Ajay in a very caricaturish way has also been receiving huge number of critiques. This could affect the movie's potential at the box office.

Like Golmaal, Singham and Drushyam, Ajay is planning to launch Son of Sardaar as a big franchise but the backlash from audiences might force him to re-think his strategy as he is again coming with De De Pyaar De 2. Maybe sequels and prequels are not going to work as much as in previous years. Mrunal Thakur is playing the leading lady role in this film.
